Me at 43

This is a picture of me in my blue room at 43. June 21 2012. At 43 I find myself to be in a very happy place. I have decided to stop climbing the corporate ladder and putting my passions into something that is more meaningful to me. Not that I have any regrets or feel like I wasted time, but the time just seemed to right. I think we all need that approval, acceptance and appreciation and for many years I got that at work. Now in the creative world I find I get it here too. I can't tell you the feeling I get when I go over to the Graphic 45 blog and see all of the comments made when my projects are posted. But I think the best part of creating is the calmness that is brings to my inner self. It's been so wonderful to have something that fills me outwardly and inwardly. In addition I have so many wonderful people in my life, so at 43 life is good!

  1. Thanks for sharing, Denise! I have followed your blog since Nov. '11 and have really enjoyed your posts. This one was a post I definitely enjoyed reading because I am struggling with letting go of external expectations of success and listening to my inner self for what is right for me. It's great to know that I'm not the only one. I wish you the best on your journey!

  3. Thanks for sharing! I so agree with you...yikes...I am turning 49 in Dec. but I have never been so content! No matter how tired or frustrated I might feel..when I sit at my craft table and begin to work...I feel my stomach unknotting-(it says "unknotting"that isn't a word...but it conveys perfectly the feeling!) I have such a sense of peace when I craft!!! Enjoy being 43!!!!

  4. You have your Blue Room; I have my Aqua Room. I say in my profile on my blog that my craft room is my most prized possession. I had to wait 'til I was 65 to get it and really get going with the things that had been in my heart and soul most of my life. It is wonderful to hear about those who got started sooner! And to design for Graphic 45... how much better can life get?!!

  5. Good for you Denise! I love your room! I am 47 and enjoying this age too, but you won't see a picture of me in my room as it is a disaster area - trying to get it organized!

  7. First, happy birthday (I am assuming, perhaps incorrectly that you just turned 43). Congratulations on taking the leap and changing careers. You are an amazingly talented artist and I think you will blossom and grow with the time and space to create that you will now have. I am 45 and can say that your 40's are a freeing time, you start to let go of the need to please others and find what makes you happy. Go for it and I am sure you will be happy and fulfilled.

43! Doesn't seem possible! Seems like just yesterday we were going to "Rocky Horror" then Denny's afterwards! Or brainstorming directing our one acts, before running off to Disneyland to DANCE! I miss ya, sista! I have some amazing memories because of you and I thank you for that!
