Kate, make that Audrey!

Okay, so my first blog giveaway had some issues. Namely, my clue was for the wrong Hepburn! But guess what Corey from fallingstarlane.etsy.com managed to still figure it out! Congrats to Corey. And here is another piece of my costume collages. I really loved how this one came out. I have boxed up all three and submitted them for publication in Somerset Studio. This will be the first time I have ever submitted anything so I will keep my fingers crossed. I know that so much can go into wether or not a piece of artwork will get published so I will not take it personally, I am sure I will have to consistently submit pieces to have any hope of ever being published, so at least I got a start!

  3. I love the girlie-ness of this one and the one before it. But, there is something special about the Hepburn one.

  6. What beautiful work!

And where being published goes, it's not just about the quality of your work - which is excellent, but also about the timing of your submission. The first time I was published as a writer, it was a feature length article in an international magazine. It was my very first query, my very first article, and I was accepted.

I had a good idea, for sure, but it was more about them receiving it at a time that they had just the right slot to fill than the work that I was reporting on or just the quality of my writing which was good. Other friends who are writers - far better writers than I - had to submit 5, 10, 20 times before their work was accepted.

Don't doubt your work. It's really good. The universe works in mysterious ways, and you WILL be published. Whether it's your first time out or the 10th is up to the forces that be, but also up to how persistent you're willing to be.

    Go for it.
